Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid have not been strangers to injuries in this 2020/21 season. The men in white have faced massive blows throughout the season from the very start. This could be a very good explanation for their current form. The Los Blancos currently sit at 3rd position behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. The La Liga giants are currently 7 points behind Diego Simeone’s men who are in the form of their life. The Argentine and his men are 7 points clear of Barcelona and Real Madrid and they have an extra two games in hand. If they do win those two extra games, they will potentially be 13 points clear of their two rivals.
Real Madrid have faced numerous injury problems this season. Many players like Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal have been majorly missed around the Bernabeu. As of now, it looks like luck is not Real’s best friend. Club captain, Sergio Ramos, had faced a major injury after their loss to Atletic Club on January 14th. The La Liga giants made an exit from the Super Cup de Espana after that semi-final loss. Real Madrid then confirmed that Ramos faced a knee injury after he played the whole of 90 minutes against Athletic Club. As of now, the club has made a statement about the player coming through after a successful knee surgery. However, this surgery will see the player out for quite some time.
The reports suggest that Sergio Ramos is set to miss the UEFA Champions League tie against Atalanta. It is also stated that he will miss the tie against Atletico Madrid. A total of 6 to 7 weeks is the given time for which the club captain will be out. This is a massive issue for Zinedine Zidane. While the player will be hugely missed, the club are more than capable of fighting on without him, should they regain and maintain good form.
