Manchester United yet again left things late as they needed extra time to qualify for the FA Cup quarter-finals. The Red Devils needed an extra 30 minutes to beat David Moyes’ West Ham. Scott McTominay the super substitute made all the difference with his crucial finish as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men went on to secure a 1-0 victory at home. Yet another uncomfortable night at home for the Red Devils.

Summer signing Donny van de Beek has played next to no football so far this season. The Dutchman has shown nothing but patience. The 23-year-old has not played much football as he has been overshadowed by the likes of McTominay and Paul Pogba.

However, the 45 million pound signing was given a rare start last night. The player put up a very average performance as he did not seem to make much of a difference. The former Ajax man was replaced with Bruno Fernandes in the 70th minute. He did not seem very happy, as he looked very disappointed as his number was put to display. He did not create a problem and respectfully left the pitch. Fernandes came on and made an instant impact. The winner was scored by Scott McTominay who also started the game on the bench. He was also brought on in the 70th-minute mark replacing Nemanja Matic.

United have not used Donny van de Beek a lot this season. With Pogba’s recent injury, maybe the Dutchman will get more chances. He should be able to make an impact while Pogba is out for a few weeks. The Frenchman will reportedly depart from Old Trafford in the summer. Maybe then the young midfielder will get a more permanent role, in the starting eleven of the team. As of now, Manchester United are into the next round of the FA Cup.
