Paris Saint Germain star Neymar Jr. faced a massive injury in their French Cup tie against Caen recently. Neither the club nor the player has confirmed the player’s updates since then. However, now there is official confirmation that the player will be out for quite a while. The Brazilian will, reportedly, miss next week’s clash against Barcelona which is not fantastic news. The player is also set to miss the second leg according to these reports. This is a huge opportunity for Ronald Koeman and his men. The Dutchman will definitely have the upper hand as PSG will be without their talisman.
All was well until an early challenge on Neymar was made in the second half. The 29-year-old faced a crunching tackle from the opposition early on in the second half. The striker was flat on the pitch in pain and agony. The former Barcelona man was immediately taken off the pitch. He was also seen leaving the ground before the game was even over. He was limping on his way out, which is never a good sign. The problem is that Paris Saint-Germain have never won a UEFA Champions League knock out tie, with Neymar now out injured, their chances dip further. Ever since the Brazilian arrived in the Parc des Prince, whatever tie he has missed, PSG have ended up losing.
This is definitely good news for Barcelona as they will not have to face their former star. The injury is obviously saddening but it is a plus point for the Catalans. The La Liga giants have not been doing so great themselves either this season. Hence, a PSG side without their main threat certainly does make life easier for Ronald Koeman. Other threats like Angel Di Maria and Marco Veratti are also set to miss the tie. It remains to be seen which side comes out with the upper hand after the game.
