Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City currently sit 5 points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand. As of now, they look a little comfortable but that was not always the case this season. City were 12th at one point having won only 5 of their first 12 games. They last dropped points against Sam Allardyce’s West Bromwich Albion. It was a 1-1 draw at the Etihad where Pep’s men missed absolute sitters. However, ever since that game, Manchester City went on to win 15 games continuously in all competitions. This streak is a new record in the English top-flight and also a career-best for Pep Guardiola.

These 15 games were massive for Manchester City. It took them to the top of the table and helped them shatter historic records. Pep Guardiola earned his 200th Manchester City win in 268 games. This set of wins also gave Pep Guardiola a new win rate of 74 percent which is better of a record than his percentage at Barcelona. His percentage at Barcelona was 72 percent.

Hence, ahead of the 3-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, Pep had revealed how he turned things around. He understood that this was going to be an uncomfortable season if he did not switch things up. Firstly he had called an emergency team meeting to discuss their state at that particular point. Apparently, he spent hours talking to the team and motivating them. The results were quite clear.

This City team look more united than ever. The men in blue managed to get this record even without the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero on their side. According to the Catalan, club captain Fernandinho too had a huge part to play in this turnaround. The 37-year-old reportedly gave the team a huge motivational speech that made them realistically aware of their bad form and made the team turn things around.
