Tammy Abraham has by far outscored any other Chelsea player since his breakthrough to the main team last season. Under the guidance of ex-manager, Frank Lampard, the Englishman managed to score 15 goals in the Premier League last season. Since the arrival of Timo Werner, his game time has reduced but he has still managed to impress new boss, Thomas Tuchel, after a brilliant offensive and defensive display against Barnsley in the FA Cup. This might give him a heads up for the upcoming game against Newcastle United.

Although he has been the most consistent scorer for the Blues, his contract still has not been improved. The 23-year-old still has two and half years left with Chelsea but there has been no signs of a financial improvement that he deserves. After his breakthrough under Lampard, he has become a regular for the London side and they even triggered a clause in his contract to extend his stay at the club, yet he is still yet to receive some improvements financially. The Blues are paying Callum Hudson Odoi, 120,000, pounds a week and he barely started under Lampard. Still, Odoi makes more than double what Abraham is making.

Thomas Tuchel opens up about Abraham’s Chelsea contract.

Tuchel is however not concerned with the controversy as he is more focused on getting results and Abraham has helped him keep his run in the FA Cup alive. The former Paris Saint-Germain coach is very pleased with that and said in a pre-match press conference,

I’m not aware of the contract situations of my players because I don’t want to be involved with judging this when I’m making the decisions of who’s playing and who’s not, He played well at Barnsley because he did not only score the decisive goal but was also very important in defensive set pieces, he cleared many situations for us with his head.”

The coach went on to praise the player’s perseverance and said that Tammy is ready to fight and show the club his worth. Tuchel is particularly impressed by the manner in which the striker managed to climb through the ranks and fought hard during his loan seasons. Finally, he gave all the strikers at the club good assurance by saying that the club has a lot of dangerous strikers and a lot of hidden potentials that the manager wants to uncover.
