Former Argentina right-back Pablo Zabaleta has reportedly urged his former teammate Lionel Messi to join Manchester City. The former Blue is of the opinion that the Premier League leaders will provide a perfect scenario for the 33-year-old magician. Messi has been heavily linked to the likes of Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain and Pep Guardiola’s Man City, ever since he handed in that transfer request during last year’s summer transfer window. The playmaker has not made any comments personally but multiple reports have suggested his potential transfer soon as the upcoming summer arrives and his contract with the Blaugrana ends.
Zabaleta believes that the City of Manchester Stadium is the ideal destination for the 33-year-old. According to Goal, the Premier League legend has stated that Pep Guardiola’s men ”offer the perfect conditions” for the magician. Zabaleta stated that if Leo wants to experience the best league in the world and experience top-notch competition, then he has to make a move to England.
The only club that will be able to afford his salary are the current table toppers. The former Blue also stated that it will be a new and fantastic experience for the 6 time Balon D’or winner. The former West Ham United player has also stated that Messi has been in the La Liga for two long and that he should play in the Premier League while he still has his flair.
As of now, there is no guarantee of the magician’s future. He has made no comments about his destination. Recently, Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has also stated that the player is ”happy” and settled at the Nou Camp as of now. Only the arrival of the summer transfer window will reveal the future of Lionel Messi.
