Ever since Ronald Koeman took charge at Barcelona, the coach always faced problems that were beyond his control. Many club players were out injured ever since his arrival. The coach has not had a full injury-free squad so far this season in order to make an impact. However, things might be looking up as it looks like he may have two major players back from injury soon. According to Goal, Gerard Pique and Ronald Araujo may be a part of the squad that will play Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 game this week.
Barcelona defense duo look to make a return for the upcoming PSG clash.
Both Araujo and Pique have been reportedly training with the squad. Barcelona have been without Pique for quite a while now. The defender suffered a knee injury that saw him out for 4 months. However, the Spaniard refused to go under surgery. The surgery would see the defender out for the rest of the season. Instead, Pique worked towards his fitness all these months and is now potentially going to make a return.
Ronald Koeman will face Mauricio Pochettino’s men this week. The former Spurs manager will be without many of his main players like Neymar Jr, Angel Di Maria, and perhaps Marco Veratti. The team does not look to be in good shape as they are not even at the top of Ligue 1, which is a usual scenario. The potential return for Ronald Araujo and Gerard Pique is a huge boost for the former Everton coach as he has been struggling defensively this season.
The arrival of UEFA Champions League matchday will only reveal if the Uruguayan and the Spaniard are going to make a return against PSG or not. With players like Lionel Messi and Portuguese youngster Trincao back in form, it should be a comfortable tie for Barcelona.
