Manchester United played against Spanish side Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 clash and the Red Devils had a comfortable win away from home. Bruno Fernandes scored twice, Marcus Rashford scored the third goal and Daniel James scored his side’s fourth goal. Here are the five talking points from the game.

1.  Bruno Fernandes with another good performance.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for Manchester United after a defensive error from Real Sociedad. The Portuguese international doubled United’s lead with an exquisite finish at the bottom right corner. Fernandes has now scored 21 goals this season for his club and becomes the first United midfielder since Paul Scholes in 2002/03 to have a 20 or more goal season. The Portuguese Magnifico has been excellent since he arrived in England and he ended the game with another good performance.

2. Defensive pairing of Maguire and Bailly.

Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has had a solid game and covered up for his defensive partner Eric Bailly’s mistakes. Bailly has been decent apart from an early mistake in the game. Maguire and Bailly is United’s best center-back pairing but the latter struggles to stay fit. Bailly’s pace contained Sociedad’s forward Alexander Isak and Maguire dealt with crosses and had few important interceptions in the game.

3. Solid display from midfield duo of Fred and Mctominay.

Fred has been excellent against Sociedad and assisted Rashford with a nice and precise pass. Scott Mctominay and Fred put on a solid display and contained Sociedad’s playmaker David Silva from creating chances. The Scottish midfielder made few in behind runs the box and could have had a goal for himself but was denied by the goalkeeper. Fred’s work rate was good and his passes were important to break the opposition lines.

4. Heroic display from Alex Remiro.

The final scoreline will not highlight the extraordinary performance put on by the Real Sociedad goalkeeper. The Red Devils could have scored six or seven goals if not for the heroic display of Alex Remiro. The Sociedad keeper denied Rashford an early opportunity to score and also read few situations and did his sweeping duties very well. Sociedad’s defensive shape was not good in the game and struggled against the pace of Rashford, Greenwood, and James.

5. Dean Henderson with a confident performance.

The competition for the number one spot is very high. Dean Henderson got his first clean sheet in UEFA competitions and put on a solid and confident performance. The English goalkeeper was very vocal throughout the entire game unlike his Spanish teammate David De Gea. Henderson made a couple of good saves and was confident with the ball and in set-pieces.
