Ever since Bruno Fernandes arrived at Old Trafford, things looked to have turned around. Manchester United actually are a huge European threat yet again because of him. The 26-year-old has been a massive signing for the Red Devils, an impact signing. The midfielder has been at the club for a year and ever since he started playing he’s been winning games by himself. Obviously, he is not a deep-lying midfielder but whether it be goals, assists, corners, penalties, or set pieces, the Portuguese phenomenon is doing it all at Old Trafford and taking the league by storm.
Bruno Fernandes equals and beats a huge Paul Scholes record.
The Manchester United talisman has had brilliant statistics so far for the men in red. The Portuguese international has 21 goals in all competitions this season. In the 2002-2003 season, United legend Paul Scholes scored 20 goals in all competitions. This was the highest goal-scoring tally by a United midfielder in a single season. With almost half the season still left, the 26-year-old midfielder has already scored 21 goals this season, beating Scholes’ record. He ended up scoring his 20th and 21st against Real Sociedad in the Europa League round of 32 first-leg tie. The United talisman put in an absolutely fantastic performance to help his team land a comfortable win in the first leg.
Manchester United as a team are not having an ideal season as they are ten points behind leaders Manchester City in the league. The 3 time UEFA Champions League winners are also out of the UCL this season. They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by city rivals Manchester City. However, the Portuguese talisman keeps on shining individually. He’s having a better season statistically than the big names such as Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, and Mohammed Salah. The United midfielder looks to have been a massive signing that will pay off well for a long period of time.
