Manchester United local star Marcus Rashford has caught the eye of the audience ever since he made his debut. A ‘local lad’ from Manchester, he is easily one of the Red Devils’ main players. The 23-year-old forward has made an impact ever since he was given the opportunity to do so. The youngster is now one of the best forwards in Europe as he is a huge threat and an asset for Manchester United.
Rashford now has been wanting to make his mark on the Manchester United history books. The Englishman already surpassed former United legend Eric Cantona’s goal-scoring record. The local boy from Manchester now has more goals than Cantona had at the age of 23.
Manchester United youngster nearing yet another historic record.
The 23-year-old forward scored one goal out of 4 in United’s route win against Real Sociedad. The men in red absolutely ended the Spanish side in their first leg of the round of 32 tie. The Spaniard’s lineup consisted of former Manchester City legend David Silva. However, that goal took Rashford close to yet another record. The youngster is now closing in on a record that was set by Sir Bobby Charlton, 56 years ago. The Manchester United man had 6 goals in the UEFA Champions League before getting knocked out. He then went on to get another one in the tie against Sociedad to make it 3-0. Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of eight European goals in a single season was set 56 years ago. The 23-year-old is just one goal away from equalizing the record and then one away from surpassing it. The youngster also has all the time in the world to ease this record if his team is to qualify into the further stages.
As of now, it looks like United’s place in the round of 16 is sealed. The Red Devils are 4-0 ahead and all 4 goals are crucial away goals. The second leg looks like a formality now.
