Manchester United are currently 14 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City. Pep Guardiola had the worst start to a particular season in his whole managerial career and somehow he managed to turn it around to a fantastic season. The Citizens are currently on a 21 game winning streak in all competitions. The title race was open till January but both Liverpool and United casually dropped points to pave the way for City and obviously, the Catalan coach does not mess around when it comes to a league lead.

Manchester United have been off form recently as they have drawn 4 of their last 5 Premier League games. However, form and other external factors go out the window when it comes to the Derby. Teams have been trying to break Pep Guardiola’s winning and unbeaten streak and what better occasion to do so than the Manchester Debry.

What to look forward to ahead of Sunday’s Manchester Derby in the Premier League?

The two rivals met at Old Trafford two times this season. The Premier League game ended in a 0-0 draw whereas the Carabao Cup semi-final ended in a 0-2 loss for the Red Devils. Bruno Fernandes has been heavily criticized for not stepping up against the top 6 sides as he has only one goal and 0 assists against the big 6 this season. That too the single goal came from a penalty in their huge 6-1 loss against Spurs.

The Red Devils overall have been pretty poor against the top 6 securing many draws and a few losses. They have failed to record a win this season against a top 6 side and Sunday’s fixture can be a top opportunity for United and Bruno to turn the tables and end City’s magnificent run in the same go.

As for Manchester City, they have been close to perfect over the last few months. Not one single loss in 2021 and all wins for Pep Guardiola’s men. The Manchester Derby will surely be a nail-biting fixture. This will probably be United’s final opportunity to stay close to City in terms of points if they are to make another charge towards the end of the season.
