Joan Laporta has made many promises to the Barcelona fans ahead of the elections. The three main candidates for the elections are Laporta, Toni Freixa, and Victor Font. These three were supposed to compete in January for an election but due to some coronavirus protocols, the election was postponed to this month in March. These three will go head to head soon as the Blaugrana will have a new president soon.
Joan Laporta has made multiple promises to Barcelona fans. Despite all the rumors surrounding Lionel Messi’s exit, the potential president has also had the courage to state that he will keep the Argentine at the Nou Camp. This may come off as a little extra as Messi himself had handed in a transfer request in last year’s summer transfer window.
Will Laporta keep the promises he made to Barcelona fans?
Laporta has also promised to bring Pep Guardiola back from Manchester City in the near future. Recently he has also stated that he will bring Sergio Aguero to the Nou Camp in the summer. The 32-year old’s deal is expiring with Manchester City this summer and it does not look like he will be signing a new one. One can understand Joan’s angle here as he may be looking to profit off of Aguero’s and Messi’s close friendship. The two are very close and Aguero’s arrival might just convince Messi to stay.
Sergio Aguero will cost no transfer fee as he will be a free agent. However, his wages will not come in cheap. As of now, it looks like Laporta is the favorite to win the elections as his promises during the campaign have been really attractive. He looks to have the upper hand over Toni Freixa and Victor Font. With Aguero, they will finally have Luis Suarez’s long-awaited replacement.
