Chelsea took all three points from their blockbuster game against Liverpool yesterday. The Blues were considered the underdogs going into the game and since the game was held at Anfield, the Merseyside team was expected to take the victory. Even though the Reds had lost four games in a row at home, no one expected them to lose another one and fans thought that they would be more strong and determined to turn things around. However, it was Tuchel’s men who were the more determined side and they managed to get a crucial 1-0 victory against the defending champions. Here are the three points from the match:-

#1 Fantastic Mount seals the deal for a brilliant Chelsea

Although the score was only 1-0, it was not hard to see that the London side had the desire to win which Liverpool were lacking. The two sides were evenly matched and both the teams had their moments but the Blues were more hungry to take their chances. They wanted to get the early goal and put on the pressure and even after their first goal was disallowed, they did not give up. After that, Mason Mount decided to take matters into his own hand. A fantastic long ball for Mount opened up Liverpool’s defense and the English midfielder decided to be selfish and go for a shot. His well-placed shot found the bottom corner of the net and won Chelsea the game. Mount has been the brightest player for the west London side this season and Thomas Tuchel has now understood his true potential. It will be very interesting to see how the German manager develops this player as he could go on to become one of the greats at the club.

#2 Luck is just not with Timo Werner right now

The German superstar once again failed to get on the scoresheet despite having a brilliant game. Always running, always looking to get into dangerous areas, and never afraid to take a shot. Timo Werner had a fantastic game against the Champions but he once again failed to find the back of the net. Well, he did score Yesterday against Allison but luck just was not on his side. The German managed to take the ball away from the Brazilian as he left his line to clear a through ball. Werner thought he had opened the score but after a VAR check, it was noticed that his fingers were millimeters offside. This was a huge letdown for the striker who is going through a bad time. The overall game was good but as a striker, he wants to score goals and that is just not happening in the Premier League.

#3 What is going on with Liverpool?

The mighty Reds have fallen once again and with their loss against Chelsea last night, they have created history. This is the first time in their illustrious history that they have lost five home matches in a row. Anfield was their empire, their fortress where they never fell but now they cannot manage a win. Surely it cannot be just due to the loss of Virgil Van Djik, can it? Liverpool were top of the table in January but now they are fighting to get a UEFA Champions League spot. Somewhere along the lines, Jurgen Klopp has gone terribly wrong and the results speak for themselves. Liverpool are now in 7th position, four points behind fourth-place Chelsea. They will be hoping to win all their remaining matches to at least get into the Champions League next season.
