Manchester United traveled to the Etihad Stadium to face the table-toppers Manchester City. United sealed all three points courtesy of Bruno Fernandes scoring from the spot and Luke Shaw scoring the insurance goal. United was awarded a penalty when Gabriel Jesus fouled Anthony Martial and Fernandes made no mistake to give United the lead. Here are the three talking points from the game.

1. Another excellent performance from Luke Shaw.

Luke Shaw is having a great season and the England left-back was excellent against Manchester City. Shaw is likely to make the upcoming England squad and should be a starter based on his current form. He is, arguably, the best left-back in the Premier League this season. The 25-year-old made a wonderful run and scored United’s second goal of the game from Marcus Rashford’s return pass. The arrival of Alex Telles has boosted Shaw’s form and confidence and the latter is irreplaceable at the moment.

2. Bruno Fernandes with a decisive performance.

Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot and gave United the lead. Fernandes placed in the bottom left corner and Ederson could not keep that out. The Portuguese national has made the most recoveries in the game and put on a decisive performance to take home all three points. United’s win over City is the first time the former beat a big six club this season in the league. The victory was important and United went back to second place.

3. Solid display from Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof had a wonderful game and was very solid at the back along with Harry Maguire. Lindelof made crucial blocks to deny City players to score. The Swedish center-back made an excellent interception to deny Phil Foden to score late in the game. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson was very vocal and his handling and distribution have been top-notch. Henderson was very firm inside the box and made no mistakes from the set pieces.

Perhaps the Red Devils are still in the title race and City have to work to keep their position as leaders.
