Sergio Ramos has less than four months left on his contract with Real Madrid and the club and player have not made any progress towards a contract extension. The Madrid legend could be leaving the club on a free transfer but the player claims he is still capable of playing in the top level of European football for at least five more years. That could be stretching the reality a bit; however, if Thiago Silva can still play at the age of 38, there is no reason why one of the best in Europe cannot play for five more years.

The 34-year-old center-back is a Madrid legend, he joined the Los Blancos in 2005 from Sevilla and has gone on to make almost 700 appearances in the Madrid shirt. He has also scored an astounding, 100 goals for the side from the center-back position. This stat makes him one of the highest-scoring defenders in the history of the game. He has won numerous trophies with the Kings of Spain including, five La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies.

Real Madrid club legend wants to continue playing in Europe’s top divisions.

The club still seems much more stable and solid when he is in the club which begs us to ask the question, Why is he not being secured by the club? According to Ramos, nothing has changed and his future is still up for speculations. The legend told reporters in a press conference,

I wish I could say something, but everything remains the same,”

“All I’m thinking about is coming back and finishing the season in the best possible way. There’s no news of my renewal, I wish I could [say something].

He went on to say that he has given his heart and soul for the club and he feels as if he can play five more years if he is not affected by injuries too much. Nothing can be said at the moment as the defending champions are still trying to snatch the title from their derby rivals, Atletico Madrid, and thus they are not really paying attention to other problems. Ramos had previously said that he had been contacted by Paris Saint-Germain who had wanted him to play for them alongside Lionel Messi. This still remains a possibility for the veteran defender and it would be interesting to see him and Messi play on the same team.
