Barcelona hosted Huesca in their latest La Liga fixture. The Blaugrana ended up routing the visitors for a massive win to secure the precious three points. Goals from Antoine Griezmann, Oscar Mingueza, and a brace from Lionel Messi were enough to secure a 4-1 win over Huesca. This result now has Barca 4 points within Atletico Madrid with the same amount of games played. This is a huge deal as the Catalans were potentially 13 points behind them at one stage. However, Lionel Messi again ended up setting another major record yet again.
The magician scored a brace for the Catalans in their victory against Huesca. He scored the last and the first goal of the game. He took his club appearance tally to 767 which was previously held by Xavi. The Argentine had equaled his former teammate’s appearance record. It was the highest amount of appearances made by a player for Barcelona. Possibly in the next game, Messi will break it and top it.
Lionel Messi ends up breaking yet another La Liga record
The magician reached yet another milestone as he netted his 20th goal of this La Liga season. This is massive as he has ended up reaching an amount of 20 goals(or more) per season, for 13 consecutive seasons. With this achievement, Messi has become the first-ever player to reach such a level in the competition’s history.
He was not done yet. He added his second of the game in the 90th minute to take his tally to 21.
This is yet another massive record for the magician. This record solely defines consistency. The consistency he has provided is absolutely top-notch. Year after year of solid and consistent domestic performances has been put to show by Leo. These are just a few of many statistics which prove that Lionel Messi is indeed the greatest footballer in La Liga history.
