Manchester United went on to win the UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie against AC Milan. They headed to the San Siro after the first leg ended 1-1 at Old Trafford. Paul Pogba was out injured for a bit of time recently. However, after a goalless first half, the Frenchman was introduced in the second half. He ended up finding the net in the 48th minute right after coming on. He has not exactly been world-class for the Red Devils but no one can deny his outrageous impact on the team. United went on to hold the lead and it finished 1-2 on aggregate. Milan headed out as Ole’s men head to the quarter-finals.
Finally a major trophy for Manchester United?
Manchester United have not gotten their hands on a major trophy for many years now. Their last big trophy was the Europa League in Jose Mourinho’s first season at United. They had won the Community Shield, Carabao Cup, and the Europa League. Ever since then they have failed to secure a single big trophy. They struggled a lot in the semi-finals. Last season and this season against Manchester City in the League Cup. Last season they also made an exit from the Europa League against Sevilla in the semis.
However, they look pretty solid this season. With the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, the newly found mentality is exquisite. The players look motivated. As of now, they are still not out of the PL race either but it looks pretty far-fetched as City are 14 points clear and don’t look like dropping points.
They are now in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and have a real shot at winning it. The opponents are good but Ole’s men look to be on another level this season. The Red Devils are also alive in the FA Cup and have a real shot at winning that too. The quarter-finals of the FA Cup will commence this weekend.
Are Manchester United finally going to land a major trophy?
