Manchester United traveled to San Siro for their 2nd leg in the UEFA Europa League against AC Milan and ended up winning the game 1-0 courtesy of a goal from returning Paul Pogba. United go through the quarter-finals of the Europa League with an aggregate scoreline of 2-1. Here are the three talking points from the game.
1. Incredible display from Dean Henderson
Dean Henderson had an excellent game and kept his clean sheet at San Siro. Henderson made a good save from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s header and did his sweeping duties very well and made himself big at times to deny the Milan attackers to find the back of the net. Only Mohamed Salah and Simon Kjaer have scored against the England keeper in 2021 and Henderson kept his 11th clean sheet in 18 starts for Manchester United. David De Gea’s spot may be in jeopardy next season looking at the current form of Dean.
2. Solid display from Victor Lindelof.
Victor Lindelof had a good game and made an excellent block to deny Milan the equalizer in the game. Lindelof came out on top against the Milan side and was very disciplined and maintained a good defensive shape along with Harry Maguire. The Swedish center-back made some darting attacking runs and almost caused problems for the Milan defenders.
3. The Paul Pogba show.
Paul Pogba returned to the side after being sidelined for over a month and scored the all-important goal to book a place in the quarter-final. Pogba came on as a substitute in place of Marcus Rashford and changed the dynamic of the game and scored instantly. The Frenchman scooped the ball over the head of the keeper after Milan showed defensive lapse. Manchester United will be hoping to keep their man beyond this season and the Frenchman could be part of something important for the side.
Manchester United will face Leicester City in the FA Cup this season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to beat the foxes and come closer to his first silverware at the club since returning as the manager.
