This year’s UEFA Champions League has the potential to be extremely entertaining. There are multiple big teams who mean serious business when it comes to winning the trophy. However, there are a few teams that stand out and some teams that have motives. From Real Madrid to Liverpool and Chelsea to Borussia Dortmund, this year’s last 8 is star-studded. Hence, we take a look at the teams who may potentially win the ‘Big Ears’ this year.
Who will win the UEFA Champions League this year?
Chelsea, for starters, are a fantastic contender. They hurdled past La Liga league leaders Atletico Madrid with a 3-0 aggregate win. They maintained a clean sheet throughout the two legs against one of the best teams in the world. Thomas Tuchel’s men have immense squad depth and are well and truly capable of winning the thing. Bayern Munich are obviously yet another favorite to win this year. They swooped the competition last year and they have the same squad with improvements like Leroy Sane as well this year. They’re massive favorites solely because of the quality they possess.
Paris Saint Germain missed out last year even after reaching the finals. That loss may have had a positive impact on the French team to go again this year. However, the biggest strongest motive to win the thing lies with Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s men do not look like making the top 4 this year as things stand. Hence, their only way to be in the UCL next year is to win the trophy. They have not had the best of seasons but it looks like they can gather the motivation to turn the season around in Europe.
Real Madrid would be favorites but injuries do not support their case. However, they are a very talented and experienced side. Just with the current players, they are more than capable of winning this thing. Pep’s Manchester City have always been a quality team. Top-notch football but they choke in the knockout stages. This year may be the same for them or it may be a little different as their defense have improved heavily.
