This year’s FA Cup has some crunch ties ahead. The semi-finals were recently announced after Leicester City thrashed Manchester United out of the cup. The Foxes beat Ole Gunnar Solkjaer’s men 3-1 at the King Power stadium. They ended up reaching the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1982. On the other hand, two crucial goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan saw Manchester City go past Everton at Goodison Park. Chelsea beat Sheffield United 2-0 and Southampton won their respective quarter-final tie.
Who will emerge as this year’s FA Cup winner?
Manchester City look to be the favorites from where things stand. Pep Guardiola has had a tough time in the FA Cup ever since he arrived. He did win it one time as a part of his domestic treble in 2018/19. City were however knocked out two times in the semi-finals by Arsenal under Pep. They will now face Chelsea who have been in top form. The last time these two played in the semis was in 2013 when goals from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri handed City the win. Things are very different now. Thomas Tuchel has improved this side heavily. So much so that they beat the La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid 3-0 over aggregate. This Chelsea side looks like they have finally arrived and they look pretty solid.
Chelsea and City will most definitely be a mouth-watering tie. On the other hand, Leicester plays Southampton. These two have had some recent bad blood. Last year Leicester had scored 9 against Southampton as they went down from 11 men. Southampton however came back and beat them in the reverse fixture at the King Power. The sides clashed heavily in the Premier League this season too. That tie will surely not disappoint.
