Manchester United have not had the best of seasons. However, in 2020/21 there has been improvement at Old Trafford. Even if it is the most minimal improvement, it is still positive. Manchester United have been able to stay in 2nd position for a long time now. A season ago even the 2nd place would seem far-fetched as Liverpool and Manchester City have completely dominated over the last two seasons.
The Red Devils managed to be a top side in the league this season. They did crash out of all the domestic cup competitions though and are only alive in the Europa League as of now.
The top 3 Manchester United players so far this season
#3 Scott McTominay
The Scottish midfielder has been humongous for United this season. He may not have had many numbers but for an irregular box to box midfielder, he’s had a massive impact. He has scored multiple tie-saving and point-saving goals this season. More importantly, he has been a very good squad player. The 24-year-old plays for the team and it is visible. He is well disciplined and wants the best for the team. He is easily one of Manchester United’s best players this season. He may not have the best numbers to show for it but to understand his significance one must watch him play.
#2 Luke Shaw
The left-back has been immense. Easily the best left-back in the league so far. From defending to going forward, Shaw’s turnaround has been a joy to watch. He arrived at United with high expectations but injuries got the better of him. However, he has been top-notch this season. Going forward especially, he has the most chances created by a left-back this season. More than the likes of City’s Joao Cancelo and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold. The Englishman even got called up for the national team.
#1 Bruno Fernandes
Of course, it is the United talisman who has been the absolute best so far. Since his arrival in February 2020, he has been the best player at Manchester United. According to his statistics, he has been the best midfielder in the league this season. The Portugal national has brilliant numbers as he is the player with the most goal contributions in Europe and the Premier League this season.
The 26-year-old has produced better numbers than that of Kevin De Bruyne too which is a fantastic achievement. He has been able to make the difference at Manchester United this season and his impact is the reason why there has been improvement at Old Trafford. His leadership skills on and off the pitch are clearly had a massive impact on the squad. His hunger and desire can be seen every time he plays a game.
