According to Sky Sports via AS, David Alaba has rejected both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in order to join either Barcelona or Real Madrid. The Austrian defender put the footballing world into a frenzy when he declared that he would be leaving Bayer Munich and many expected him to join Thomas Tuchel‘s Chelsea, especially after the form that the club has shown under the new boss. This has not worked out and it does not seem like the world-class player will be joining the Blues next season.

Bayern Munich star rejects Chelsea in order to go to the La Liga.

Alaba is considered one of the best defenders in the world and one of the best players in general. The 28-year-old has a unique ability of playing in any position on the midfield and defense. This makes him very viable for Bayern and Hansi Flick tried his best to keep one of his most important players. However, Alaba has decided that his time with the German giants is up and he is set on joining another top-class team.

At first, the Austrian was linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid however, he was then linked with Chelsea as well. The West London side started to flourish under Tuchel’s three at the back formation and Alaba would be the perfect left center-back for the side. The Blues seemed to be a good fit for him however, according to reports, he has his heart set on joining one of the top La Liga sides, Barcelona or Real Madrid.

This should not be a letdown for the London side, however, as they have been performing extraordinarily under the guidance of the former PSG coach. They are still undefeated under him and have conceded only two goals in 14 games. The defense looks extremely solid and Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have really pulled up their socks to prove that they are good enough for Chelsea. Tuchel can definitely carry on with the current team and missing out on Alaba won’t really be a problem for them.
