The Premier League is in the business end and Manchester City are looking like the favorites to win the title this season. Premier League football will be back next weekend after the international break is over. Here are the top five midfielders in the league this season.

#1 Kevin De Bruyne- Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne had a slow start to the season but he is back to his very best again. The Belgian has 11 assists in the league this season and has created 16 big chances so far. De Bruyne has been very crucial for City in the second half of the season and he was excellent with his build-up play and finding the attackers.

#2 Jack Grealish- Aston Villa

Jack Grealish has been one of the best players in the league this season and certainly has a shout for the PFA Player of the year award. Grealish has the most chances created per game and totally influenced Aston Villa’s attacking play this season. Villa is just 7 points off a European spot and may look for some more inspiration from their captain. Grealish has been Villa’s best player this season and was benefitted from the arrival of Ross Barkley and Ollie Watkins.



#3 Ilkay Gundogan- Manchester City

Ilkay Gundogan is currently in the form of his life. The German midfielder has been really benefited from the advanced role this season. Gundogan has made late runs in the box time and time again this season. The midfielder scored for City against Liverpool and Spurs this season and was Premier League’s player of the month for February. Gundogan is also a good shout for the PFA Player of the Year award.

#4 Youri Tielemans- Leicester City

Youri Tielemans has been one of the best players for the Foxes this season. The Belgian along with Wilfried Ndidi took a huge workload in the absence of Jamie Vardy. Tielemanns also scored against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final win. He’s one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the league currently.

#5 Bruno Fernandes- Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes has been a sensation this season. The Portuguese national had scored 16 goals and had 10 assists in the league this season. Fernandes also created the highest number of chances in the league so far. The Portuguese Magnifico is certainly a huge shout for the player of the year award this season.
