Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart in 2017, Yaya Toure in 2018, Vincent Kompany in 2019, David Silva in 2020 and now Sergio Aguero in 2021, all the individual pillars that made the club stand tall and proud are now all nothing but memories. Good memories and bad memories, both came into play in the rise of Manchester City over the last 12 years.

These massive players all departed after so many years of top-notch service. Recently, the club announced that they will be parting ways with Sergio Kun Aguero after the season is over. The player will not sign a new deal and will be heading out to another club this summer.

Manchester City’s massive era comes to an end.

Sergio Aguero still has a few more months to go before he officially leaves the club in the summer. He will be the last player to leave from the 2011/12 City squad that brought the league title back after 44 years. That team may not have achieved a significant amount but they did bring an uncountable amount of joy to the fan base. City were not exactly very lucky when it came to European glory but everything has its own time. Domestically, the team won 4 Premier Leagues, 5 League Cups, 2 FA Cups, and 2 Community Shields in the last 12 years.

This era was special for the club as they had almost everything for a top team. From top-notch coaches like Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini, and Pep Guardiola to brilliant footballers that played for them. It did not matter if a player played for a long time or short, the players seemed to love playing for the club and gave it their all.

With the departure of Sergio Aguero, all the massive players that Roberto Mancini signed, they will all be gone. These players were very special and carried the team even during tough times when the teams did not win any trophies. The players always gave their best.

Many reports also suggest that Fernandinho will also be departing from the club this season. The Brazilian is another club legend that played for the badge. The 35-year-old is still going strong and ever since he signed in 2013, the midfielder gave his all. Many midfielders like Kevin De Bruyne, Yaya Toure, Fernando, Javi Garcia, Samir Nasri, Ilkay Gundogan were switched and played but Fernandinho was a constant. These players played around him as he controlled the tempo in midfield. Especially ever since Guardiola arrived, he took the midfielder to another level.

Manchester City are not going to stop. They are going to keep coming at teams every season even if the conditions don’t suit them because the players are well nurtured at the club. A player’s happiness and satisfaction are prioritized. The Citizens mean business and no matter how many losses they take, you will see the players with their chin up in the very next game or season.

These major players who formed the backbone of the team will surely be missed not just by the City fans but also by football fans in general. This set of exquisite footballers are the sole reason that Manchester United are not the only club in Manchester anymore.
