Manchester United hosted Spanish side, Granada, at Old Trafford for their 2nd leg in the UEFA Europa League. Manchester United had a two-goal advantage in the first leg courtesy of goals from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes. Edinson Cavani opened the scoring in the 2nd leg with a weak foot volley and an own goal from Jesus Vallejo sealed the tie. United face AS Roma in the semi-final and former United men, Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be returning to Old Trafford. Here are the three talking points from the game.
#1 Donny Van De Beek with a fantastic performance.
Donny Van De Beek came off the bench in the second half in place of Paul Pogba and dropped an excellent performance. Van De Beek almost got an assist when he set up an excellent cross for Mason Greenwood but the latter could not head it home. The Dutch midfielder was superb with his link-up play and his work rate. The United midfielder was class with his attacking play against Granada CF.
#2 Disciplined performance from the United back four.
Manchester United was without captain Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw but the United back four were solid and had a disciplined game. Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were pretty good defensively and Victor Lindelof was also very much solid at the back. Alex Telles was pretty good while going forward and was heavily involved in the two goals in the second leg.
#3 Edinson Cavani with a decisive performance.
Edinson Cavani opened the scoring in the 2nd leg with a wonderful finish. The El Matador was excellent throughout the entire game and had an immense work rate. Cavani may not stay beyond this season and may return to South America. Cavani has been good for his new club and scored many important goals since his arrival at Old Trafford.
