Former Inter Milan legend and World Cup winner, Alessandro Altobelli, has claimed that current Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku, is as good as Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe. The former Manchester United player has really turned his life around in Italy and could help the Milan side lift their first League trophy in over a decade. His contribution to the team has been astronomical and there is no reason why he should not be looked at in the same light as some of the best players in the world.
The 27-year-old striker has been in the form of his life ever since he moved to Inter. This season he has 27 goals in all competitions, 21 in the league alone. His exploits in the league alongside his partner, Lautaro Martinez have put Inter in a fantastic position to win the league. They are currently in the first position with an 11 points lead over second place. Lukaku’s work this season has paid off and even legends such as Altobelli are mesmerized by his goal-scoring ability.
In an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the former Internazionale star commended the Belgium striker’s ability and admitted that he was completely blown away by the striker’s talent. He did not expect Lukaku to perform to this level as he thought the former Everton man was an average player but it’s safe to say that he has been pleasantly surprised. He said in the interview,
At the beginning of the season, I thought he was an average player, but I was wrong,”
“Lukaku is not only capable of scoring in any way and against any opponent, but he is also a great leader who helps the team. For me, he is on the same level as Lewandowski, Haaland and Mbappe.” – Source Goal
He went on to say that Serie A is one of the greatest leagues in the world and everyone must play in it once if they want to further their career. Finally, he ended the interview by saying that he was once the best in the world and he can see that Lukaku is also one of the best in the world and that Inter have found themselves a real gem by taking a risk on the failing United player.
