Jose Mourinho was let go of by Tottenham Hotspur after a series of bad results even though they are in the Carabao Cup finals. This could be their chance to secure a major trophy for the first time in over a decade. Their last trophy was in 2008 when they won the Carling Cup and it would poetic for them to break the trophy drought by winning the same trophy once again. However, the sacking of Mourinho will be a huge detriment for them and we must ask two questions, will they be able to defeat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the finals and where will Mourinho end up next?
Mourinho could take a job away from the Premier League this time.
The Portuguese manager finally ended his long reign of winning a trophy with every club with Spurs. He was the special one for Chelsea and brought them three Premier League titles. With Porto and Inter Milan, he did the unthinkable and won the UEFA Champions League as well. After that, he won the Europa League with Manchester United and people were sure that he would be the one to finally end Tottenham’s trophyless phase. However, that does not seem to be the case anymore and he has finally left a club without winning a single trophy.
The super manager was swarmed by paparazzi when he announced his exit from the Lily Whites and when asked what would be his next move, Mourinho was quick to reply that he was ready to get back into the game. There have been rumors that Valencia and Celtic might consider giving him the role however, nothing has been said publicly yet.
RB Leipzig’s manager, Julian Nagelsmann, might be on his way to manage Bayern Munich so Mourinho could have that role open to him as well. All in all, he will not have a tough time looking for a job and the footballing world will readily accept him back if not for his style of football then just for his antics on and off the field.
